ISS Pre-Orientation

Get ahead of the game with the ISS Pre-Orientation Program! Set yourself up for success by completing the online modules and participating in Virtual Smart Start Meet-ups.

Online Modules:

There are four (4) Online Modules in the ISS Pre-Orientation Program. The modules will introduce you to ¸£Àû¼§, our values, services and supports.  You can go through the modules at your own pace, as you prepare to begin the fall semester. Access  the modules using the links below.

 

Virtual Smart Start Meet-Ups

Virtual Smart Start Meet-ups are an opportunity to meet fellow international students, connect with ISS staff and ask your burning questions on your #Roadto¸£Àû¼§!

They will be held on July 11th, July 18th, July 25th and August 8th at 10 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. Your parents and supporters are welcome to join!

Join us in this interactive event that will equip you with all the resources and tools that support your success on your #Roadto¸£Àû¼§. From Immigration Support to UHIP, we got you covered!

Tuesday 26th August

11AM - 12:30 PM Life in Canada SLC Floor 8 Are you an international student moving to Canada for the first time? Looking for guidance about life in downtown Toronto and studying at Toronto Met? Join us in this session where we'll navigate through your new Life in Canada! From transit to accommodation, local customs and more!
1PM - 3PM City Immersion Tour Meet at SLC First Floor
1) Yonge/Dundas
2) Berczy Park
3) Nathan Phillips Square
As a warm welcome to the city of Toronto, we will take you on a guided tour to some of the city's biggest tourist spots. While we're there, you will also get a view of the city's vibrant financial district and the iconic CN Tower! With this tour, we hope you get a feel of being a tourist in the city before you embrace your new life as a student!

Wednesday 27th August

1PM - 3PM Tote-Ally Yours : Paint Your Own Tote ! SLC Floor 8 Join us at the "Tote-ally Yours" to make your very own tote bag! Get ready to express your artistic side and meet new peers! No painting experience needed - we provide all materials. Don't miss this fun opportunity to kickstart your academic journey with creativity and camaraderie!
3:30PM - 4:30PM From Toronto, With Love: UnderGrad & Grad ISS Lounge (POD 50-A) You're here, you've settled in, and you're all ready for classes next week! Take this opportunity to create a postcard for your family back home- we'll provide the stamps, pictures, stickers, and anything else you'll need to show your family and friends that even as you create your new life, you're thinking of them! As an added bonus, there will be snacks and an opportunity for you to show everyone where you come from!
Thursday 28th August 12PM - 3PM Annual Welcome Party SLC Floor 6th It's almost the end of the week and you have spent a lot of time taking information in and preparing for your classes. Before we send you off to begin your new semester, we'd like you to join us in our Annual Welcome Party! The theme is Beach- get ready for some beachy music, decor, and dance! Start your school year right with fun, food, and games!
Friday 29th August 11AM - 12PM Indigenous Art Tour 6-8 Art Stops on Campus Discover the rich history and stories behind the Indigenous artwork displayed across our campus! Join us for a guided Indigenous Art Tour, where you’ll explore significant art pieces and learn about the cultures, traditions, and histories they represent. This is a meaningful opportunity to deepen your understanding of Indigenous perspectives and connect with the land and its original caretakers through art and storytelling.
